Ungaretti's "Popolo". Story of a dedication

Abstract

The essay reconstructs the history of the removal of the dedication of Giuseppe Ungaretti’s Popolo to Benito Mussolini, retracing the phases of the poet’s long loyalty to the Duce and showing the reasons why literary historiography has generally downplayed Ungaretti’s link with the Fascist regime.
