Abstract
The essay explains the importance of the correspondence between Carrer and Le Monnier, the principle relevance of which can be found in its ability to reveal essential issues relative to the collection of letters between Foscolo and Arese. Furthermore, the Carrer-Le Monnier correspondence recounts several crucial events regarding the Foscolo edition prepared by Le Monnier in the 1850s, which provides us with a broader insight into the modus operandi of the French publisher and, finally, contributes to reconstructing the last days in the life of Luigi Carrer, the main exponent of Romanticism in the Veneto and, above all, one of the most refined devotees of the Foscolo myth.
