Abstract
Paying special attention to textual and linguistic problems, the article examines some of the texts written by the prolific bolognese storyteller Giulio Cesare Croce (1550-1609). Particular attention is devoted: a) to the critical history of the last century and to recent critical editions; b) to the textual problem of the Bertoldo and the related necessity for the contribution of a new critical edition; c) to the text of the Descrittione della vita del Croce and the connotations of its regional language; d) to some of the problems that arise from the study of Croce’s works written in dialect.
