About the Journal

Nuova Rivista di Letteratura Italiana, founded in 1998 by Pietro G. Beltrami, Umberto Carpi, Luca Curti, Piero Floriani, Marco Santagata and Mirko Tavoni - former editors of the Rivista di Letteratura Italiana, active since 1983 - is a point of reference for international Italian studies.

The journal publishes essays on Italian literature, philology and history, with a special focus on the long period from the 13th to the mid-20th century, and with a particular but not exclusive interest in historical, philological, linguistic and stylistic research. The journal aims to promote research and debate in the disciplines of Italian Studies (Italian Literature, Contemporary Italian Literature, Italian Philology, Italian Linguistics, Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature), giving due recognition to the work of young scholars. The scientific value of the works published is guaranteed by the selection made by the Editorial Board, assisted by an international Scientific Committee and by the work of anonymous reviewers.

In addition to the "Essays" section, which publishes double-blind evaluated contributions, Nuova Rivista di Letteratura Italiana has a "Texts and Documents" section, which publishes editions and commentaries of unpublished or rare texts and documents, assessed by a double-blind review process, and a "Discussions" section, which offers space for methodological and historiographical discussions on any aspect of the discipline, with essays selected by the editors. The journal accepts articles in Italian, French, English and Spanish.

Nuova Rivista di Letteratura Italiana is classified by ANVUR in Fascia A for the fields of Italian literature (10/F1), contemporary Italian literature (10/F2), Italian linguistics and philology (10/F3), and literary criticism and comparative literature (10/F4).

In October 2019,  NRLI has been included in Scopus (with an evaluation of the articles published since 2016).
